Albox council has been thrown into disarray after the regional high court declared the appointment of its current mayor “illegal” this week, saying she took the position as a member of the wrong party.

Socialist Sonia Cerdán, from the PSOE party, was voted mayor of Albox by town councillors in March this year after the previous mayor, Rogelio Mena, was forced to step down by a judge, having been found guilty of withholding information from the opposition Partido Popular (PP).
