Pressure is mounting on Roquetas de Mar mayor Gabriel Amat to resign after it emerged he is to be investigated over his alleged involvement in awarding contracts worth €1.2m to firms involving his son-in-law.
According to reports, the public prosecutor will investigate a complaint lodged by the left-wing Izquierda Unida party in connection with five council contracts awarded to firms featuring his son-in-law, José Zapata Palomares, between 2008 and 2014.
