One of Málaga’s newest and most successful tourist attractions has been closed temporarily. The restored Caminito del Rey, the walkway pinned high up on the steep walls of a narrow gorge in El Chorro, near Ardales, has attracted 300,000 visitors since it opened to the public a year ago but has been closed temporarily from this week.
During April, a private company will take over the four-year concession for operating and maintaining the Caminito and until the new management is in place, admission to the public has been suspended.
A joint venture formed by the companies Hermanos Campano and Bobastro 2000 was selected among the eight applications submitted for the concession to run the Caminito. It is expected to have the attraction re-opened by the end of April.
