TORREMOLINOS town hall has launched work on its first plot of allotment gardens to allow local residents to grow their own vegetables.

Around 70 allotments are to be created on the over 12,000-metre site, located in the El Pinillo zone, north of the Carrefour shopping centre. Around half of the site will house the allotments, with the rest serving as a public park and green zone.

The allotments are to be used for organic gardening, without chemical fertilisers and using aromatic plants or other natural repellents for pest control, said the town hall.
