Long-suffering residents of urbanisations near to the Torrevieja sewage plant will finally be able to enjoy the smell of fresh air again this summer, announced mayor José Manuel Dolón on Monday.
For years they have had to put up with the overpowering pong of sewage but work is due to begin next week to cover the sludge tank at the plant with a prefabricated roof that is designed to eliminate the foul odour.
