AROUND 50 people had to be evacuated from an apartment block in Fuengirola on Monday after a fire broke out, with one woman sustaining injuries after falling while trying to escape from her first-floor balcony.

The blaze, in Tower 2 of the Las Palmeras complex on Calle Jacinto Benavente, was reported to the town’s fire department at 7.10am, with a total of three fire engines attending the scene alongside local and National Police and health services.

Correction: This article has been corrected from its original version to reflect that the fire was in Tower 2, not Tower 1
