DOZENS of demonstrators gathered outside Gandia Collegiate church in the town hall square in protest as ‘homophobic and sexist’ Cardinal Antonio Cañizares’ gave mass on their patron saint’s day.
Members of the congregation left the church after the noon service on Monday in honour of Francisco de Borja – the last member of the Borgia dynasty, who joined the Jesuits – to find huge banners, chants and rainbow flags.
