SPAIN’S largest international cycle tour will pass through La Safor again for the first time in 24 years.
The last time the Vuelta a España – Spain’s answer to the Tour de France – crossed through the southern Valencia province district was in 1992, but this coming summer Gandia beach will be the finishing line for one of the race stages.
Starting on August 20 next year and running until September 11, the 71st Vuelta a España will set off from the north-western region of Galicia and end in the Comunidad Valenciana.
The region will play a central role in the tour this year – as it did in 2015 when all three provinces formed parts of stages of the race.
