Tráfico has stepped up its drug testing campaign

Over a fifth of Spanish drivers believe they can fool drugs tests at police roadside controls.

A report published last week by the traffic authority Tráfico seeks to bust some of the myths which claim to be able to beat the saliva test used to detect the consumption of narcotics.

Drinking water, coffee or energy drinks, sweating through exercise, using mouthwash and eating lemons were supposed preventative measures cited by respondents in a survey of 1,205 people aged between 18 and 60, with 27 per cent of those under 25 believing that it was possible to fool the test.
