A STRIKE at 23 Spanish airports is threatening travel in the final quarter of the year. Three major unions have given notice of 24-hour stoppages on 25 days between September 15 and December 30.

The industrial action, which is separate from the dispute which has been affecting security staff at Barcelona El Prat and elsewhere, will go ahead if talks with the government on August 31 fail to resolve the union’s complaints. The stoppage will affect essential services including fire crews, parking attendants, refuelling staff, electricians, IT staff and maintenance workers at control towers, amongst others.
