THE Supreme Court has awarded €500,000 compensation to a prisoner who was left severely disabled following a misdiagnosis by doctors at the Alhaurín de la Torre prison.

The court found that, had the correct diagnosis been made, the man could have received earlier treatment, with a “high probability” of avoiding or minimising the resulting disability.
