EXPATS are again demanding a voice in British politics with a new electronic petition calling for a universal vote.
The government has pledged a ‘vote for life’ but will only say a change in the law will come before the next General Election in the UK, set for 2022. Under current rules, people living abroad are barred from taking part in a vote after 15 years – the petition calls for everyone to be able to play a part and to have MPs in the House of Commons to represent expats.
