A minute’s silence was observed at the start of all football matches in Spain last weekend following the death of a police officer ahead of last Thursday’s Europa League Match in Bilbao. The officer suffered a heart attack after a flare was thrown towards him during clashes between rival fans. The next day, nine Spanish, Russian and Polish fans were released from custody with charges pending.
