The president of Spain’s Football Federation, Angel María Villar, was arrested on Tuesday by police investigating corruption allegations. Also detained were his son Gorka, a Federation vice-president and two officials of Tenerife’s regional association, with reports suggesting that there have been allegations of cash being embezzled from international matches. Later on Tuesday, Sports Minister Inigo Mendez de Vigo emphasised, “Nobody is above the law.”
