A 26-year-old Air Force pilot died on Tuesday morning when his F-18 crashed on take-off from the Torrejón de Ardoz air base in Madrid. First indications suggest the aircraft had suffered a power failure and was unable to gain height. It came down within the base perimeter killing Lieutenant Fernando Pérez Serrano from Murcia who had over 700 hours flying experience.
