Obdulio Pérez Fernández of the Partido Popular was voted in as Cómpeta’s new mayor last Thursday. He succeeds José Luis Torres, the town’s former priest, who has stood down as both mayor and councillor after nine years. The empty PP seat in the council is expected to be occupied by the next candidate on the party’s 2015 election list, Gwen Ferber.
