The Gibraltar government has sent a letter to the European Commission to “set the record straight” after Spanish MEP Ramón Jaurgui Atondo, in a question to the European Parliament, alleged that Gibraltar facilitates tax evasion and financial crime. Among other things, the letter points out that Gibraltar has exchange of information agreements with 80 countries, including Spain, and a “glowing review” from the OECD on the issue.
