Spain’s regions are spending more on drugs to battle hepatitis C than on cancer treatments, according to a new report. US-based IMS Health says spending on hepatitis treatments has soared by 28.7% so far this year. Madrid announced recently it is making €1,000 million available in loans to the regions to meet the costs of treating the country’s 95,000 diagnosed sufferers.
