Gibraltar, in compliance with an EU directive, has begun exchanging vehicle registration data with member states to identify the owners of vehicles involved in road safety-related traffic offences including speeding, seatbelt and helmet offences, and drink-driving. Gibraltar’s police have access to the vehicle registration databases of other member countries, and vice versa.
