Five experienced canyoners had to be rescued last Saturday by the Guardia Civil’s mountain rescue team and fire-fighters, after they became trapped in the Cañón de las Buitreras area near the Serranía de Ronda town of Cortes de la Frontera. According to the 112 emergency services line, the alarm was raised at 7.10pm. The canyoners, who did not require medical attention, were rescued at around 11.30pm.
