Benalmádena’s councillors last week approved a new municipal ordinance for the town’s beaches aimed at “improving the quality, safety and environmental conservation”, according to the town hall. The rules include a ban on reserving spaces on the beach, and giving local police powers to sanction people who swim when red flags are flying. The ordinance does not yet have final approval, and is open to a period of public consulation.
