A former Partido Popular deputy on Lanzarote has had his Twitter account suspended after he criticised Cataluña’s president using a reference to gay people. Sigfrid Soria’s comment triggered a flood of complaints leading to his suspension for “abusive behaviour”. Soria, who is a teacher of baccalaureate level students, was accused by other Twitter users of being a “degenerate” and of “inciting hatred”.
