“WE are determined to reach a deal on the orderly withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union, in view of the UK’s decision to leave.”

These were the words of the European Union’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier last Friday following the sixth round of Article 50 negotiations with the UK in Brussels.
