Big success in Disney trip appeal for local family

The ongoing campaign was launched after mother and son were both diagnosed with cancer; 20% of money raised will go to charities

A CROWDFUNDING campaign for a family in the Axarquía who received two shock cancer diagnoses within months of each other has raised enough money to send them on a dream trip to Disneyland Paris, with enough left over for donations to two local charities.

Natalie Hancock set up the JustGiving Page, which remains open and is still taking donations, to raise money for her best friend, Amanda Edwards, and her children Abraham, eight, and José, 12, after a nightmare year for the family (CDSN October 5).

In February Abraham was diagnosed with two forms of rare leukaemia and then in May Amanda, who has lived in the village of Salto del Negro near Vélez-Málaga for 15 years, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
