The number of ‘active’ cases of coronavirus in the Valencia region has gone up after 246 new infections were reported today by the regional department for health.
Councillor for health Ana Barceló stated that there are now 4,029 active cases compared with 3,901 yesterday
A total of eight of the new cases are in Castellón province, 91 in Alicante province and 147 in Valencia.
However, the number of patients being treated for the virus in hospital continues to fall – down from 763 yesterday to 753.
Another reduction in the number of patients in intensive care was recorded, down from 149 to 139.
Sr Barceló reported today that there have now been a total of 6,423 recoveries in the region since the pandemic started, 2,406 of these in Alicante province.
She noted that there had been 12 more deaths in the region – up by eight on the previous day – taking the total to 1,206.
Surely it goes without saying that the more people we test, the more cases we are likely to find. This doesn’t mean anything.
