Funding vow from top EU politician


During a visit to Orihuela on Friday, vice-president of the European Commission Frans Timmermans said he would ensure emergency funding from Brussels ‘arrives quickly’ to tackle last month’s flooding catastrophe in the Vega Baja.

However, the national government has yet to officially apply for the EUSF solidarity cash – which is an indispensable part of the process.
