The mayors of Torrevieja and Orihuela have asked the regional government to stump up an estimated €277 million to fund a railway linking Orihuela city with Bigastro, San Miguel de Salinas and ‘Torrevieja-Orihuela Costa’.
Eduardo Dolón and Emilio Bascuñana gave a press conference on Tuesday to outline the project which has been drawn up by the engineering department at Alicante university.
