Ximo Puig is in a position to continue governing Valencia following yesterday’s regional election.

His Socialist party (PSOE) won 27 seats in the regional parliament, with the Partido Popular (PP) claiming 20; Ciudadanos (Cs) 18; Compromís 16; far-right party Vox 10; and Unidos Podemos 8.

Following the election in 2015 Sr Puig was able to form a coalition government with left-wing ‘nationalist’ party Compromís, which was supported by Unidos Podemos – something that the three parties are in a position to repeat.
