Pedreguer surgery ‘fails basic standards’

THE REGIONAL health authorities’ latest clinic inspection in the Marina Alta was on Friday in Pedreguer – a town which has been campaigning for a new surgery for years, to no avail.
The private company which manages the district health service, Marina Salud, is contractually bound to build a bigger and better clinic in Pedreguer and additional practices in Dénia and Calpe, but has failed to do so in the nine years it has been in charge.
This and other complaints from patients and professionals has led to a series of unannounced visits to medical centres across the Marina Alta, and lead inspector Isabel González has taken away a long list of requests from each one so far.
