ANOTHER mass exodus from the Marina Alta has seen the district’s population drop for the fifth consecutive year.
As at January 1, 2015 – the most-recent date for which census information is available – residents in the 33 northernmost towns and villages of the Alicante province had plummeted by 26,825 in the previous five years.
Of these, 3,037 left in 2014 alone, resulting in a last-known total of 175,015 for the whole of the Marina Alta – a 1.7% decrease from the previous year.
