Where has all the sweetheart cabbage gone, we travelled to England for Christmas and guess what, the supermarkets where overflowing with them at £1.50 each.
In Spain for two weeks, they are practically giving them away at €1 for three at the markets. This may last for two weeks at most then a dearth till next spring.
The cabbage we can now buy at the market is what we in the UK call ‘cow cabbage’; it will feed a family of four and more left over. Ok for a growing family great, but two pensioners l am sure would prefer a small portion of cabbage once a week.
To underline all of this may, l say Spanish markets must be one of the best markets in the world, albeit no sweetheart cabbage.
