Torrevieja
May 21

Hi, I am Nicholas Bradford and reside at Calle Munera, San Luis (lakeside) in Torrevieja with my wife Susan, and have lived here for nearly 13 years.

We overlook the Torrevieja Lake, its nature area and the old railway track. The nature area has been used by dog walkers, coach parties and many other visiting people, who gain access through a break in the surrounding fence and hence, until this year, very little nature has been seen. Since the State of Alarm regarding Covid19 pandemic, the wild life is in abundance, especially the birds, with lots of birds nesting in the green area. Flamingoes have also returned to the Torrevieja Lake but we are worried that as soon as restrictions are lifted the whole area will again be decimated by humans and dogs. Perhaps the Town Hall would like to take an interest in maintaining the area the way it is now by repairing the fence with No Trespassing signs placed on the area. It is still possible to see the lake and green land (including the birds) and walk dogs, etc along the old railway track – therefore access is not necessary to this fragile habitat. The Torrevieja Lake appears to have lost its pink colour due to the depth of water since last year’s heavy rains. Thank you.

Regards
Nicholas Bradford
