Britons would face problems purchasing homes due to Franco era law

AN OUTDATED law dating back to the dictatorship could cause a headache for Britons who want to buy and sell homes on the south Costa Blanca and Murcia if the UK pulls out of the European Union.

According to law 8/1975 and the Royal Decree 689/1978, some areas from Cabo Cervera in Torrevieja along the coast to Mazarrón – and inland to San Miguel de Salinas and Fuente Álamo – have restricted access to property ownership for non-Spaniards due to military interests.

  1. IN the 1970’s there was a political rebellion in Portugal and holiday villa owners lost their homes. As a consequence the economy suffered and the Government pleaded for the expats to return. No one is going to restrict the buying and selling of homes !! Spain would collapse overnight.
