A gay man accused of paying a woman to bear his baby has denied the charges and said she was only helping him to become a father in the context of an “affectionate friendship”.

Hairdresser Juan José G.S., from Vícar, was arrested last week along with his partner and accused of paying a woman in Cádiz €10,000 to have his baby.

Police were called in by the social services after the 28-year-old mother of two reportedly told her social worker that her baby had died and that she had donated the body to science.

Investigators found links to the couple from Vícar on social media and discovered the baby living at home with them.
