A police drone could be circling the skies over Mojacar if a new plan outlined in the recent council budget goes ahead.
The remote controlled aircraft which would cost approximately €12,000 is expected to be used for security surveillance including capturing images of crime suspects and locating people lost in remote areas or in the sea.
Opposition councillors expressed their concerns about the use of a drone for surveillance suggesting that residents would be “monitored from the air” as well as on the ground.
