Rubbish collection could be under threat after 20 towns said they would withdraw from the public body managing the service

Socialist PSOE controlled towns in the north-east have said they will leave the regional rubbish collection service after elections to the governing assembly last week saw the Partido Popular party retain control by only one vote.

The move threatens the already bankrupt rubbish collection agency and could mean regular collections become less frequent and more expensive in popular expat areas.
