Leo passed away last week

Young cancer sufferer Leo Bermejo died peacefully at home last week after years of fighting a brain tumour discovered when he was just two-years-old.

His death was announced on Friday (December 1) on the ‘Leo the Lion’s Fight’ Facebook page, saying he “passed peacefully away in his Mummy’s arms and with his Daddy by his side”. His last words were to his sister Sofia saying “I love you”.

Leo’s funeral took place yesterday, Tuesday December 5, as this paper went to press, with a balloon launch planned in his memory later the same day from Palomares beach. The news comes five months after Leo’s mother, Karen Keefe, revealed he would be having no further treatment, following the failure of proton therapy to halt the growth of two aggressive tumours in his brain.
