A disgraced former mayor of Albox is to go on trial accused of misappropriating public funds.
Socialist Rogelio Mena, who was barred from holding public office for two-and-a-half years in 2015 after being found guilty of withholding information from opposition parties, has been accused of embezzlement and perverting the course of justice.
At the trial hearing held last week in Almería city, the court heard that Mena charged the council more than €2,000 on private excursions to Madrid and other cities.
