A judge has ordered Galasa to continue supplying water to three villages in the north of the province after mayors applied for an injunction against the utility company.
The legal move by the council heads in Serón, Urrácal and Lúcar was in response to a decision by Galasa to stop supplying the villages after the three failed to approve a hike in water rates.
Had the tap water been cut off, the councils would have been under legal obligation to provide an alternative supplier.
The dispute also affects the villages of Tíjola and Armuña de Almanzora.
