A man who chased his ex-wife’s lawyer with a chainsaw at a vegetable auction in El Ejido is facing eight years in jail after being charged with attempted murder.

According to the Europa Press agency, the incident happened in March 2014 when the accused, identified as 53-year-old S.G.G., was at a fruit and vegetable warehouse in the neighbourhood of Matagorda, where an auction was taking place.

The victim, who is also a farmer, was set upon by the accused who allegedly shouted “I’m going to kill you” as he revved the chainsaw.
