Minister Ortiz says Andalucía must keep exporting to the UK

By David Jackson and Richard Torné

The regional minister of agriculture and fisheries, Carmen Ortiz, has said that Andalucía must keep selling to the UK after Brexit, and that her department would consider signing a regional bilateral agreement with the UK.

Sra Ortiz warned: “It is bad news for everyone, and Brexit in my opinion was voted for by nationalists and extremists. The EU has been extremely good for our agricultural sector and will continue to be. The UK is a very important market for us and if we can’t export through the EU, we will have to sign a reciprocal free-trade agreement as quickly as possible.”
