Albox loses stray dog service amid growing council turmoil

Former governing colleagues continue to lambast ‘go it alone’ mayor

The stray dog collection agency in Albox has announced it will no longer be providing the service in the town after the mayor terminated its contract.

In a statement on Facebook, the Patán abandoned animals association, which also works for Vera, Garrucha and Los Gallardos councils, said mayor Francisco Torrecíllas alleged the contract had been “signed behind his back” and was not being “properly carried out”.

The decision, the latest in a line of controversial moves by Sr Torrecíllas, has sparked more criticism from his estranged former colleagues in the wake of the rupture of the governing team.
