I think Theresa May is a dreadful prime minister, but I’m starting to admire her tenacity.
Like a certain copper-topped battery she just keeps going on and on and on despite the chaos that is ceaselessly swirling around her. The broken government is making a pig’s ear of Brexit negotiations, ministers are sharpening their knives in public, the pound is plummeting, the economic outlook for the next few years doesn’t look too rosy, Cabinet unity has broken down, her closest ally is under investigation for claims that pornography was found on his computer, she has no power and no Commons majority and every week is more dreadful than the last.
I don’t know how she can get up in the morning and face the world knowing that every day is going to be a monumental struggle. She is finished, but bravely or foolhardy she limps on. It is painful to watch.
She desperately needs a challenger to come forward, someone to put her out of her misery.
