THE first round of artist announcements for the latest edition of the Gibraltar Music Festival was revealed last week, as the event prepares to celebrate its fifth anniversary over the weekend of Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 of September.

The two-day festival at Gibraltar’s Victoria Stadium continues to be an eclectic mix of both English and Spanish artists to suit all styles, tastes and ages, and this year Welsh rockers Stereophonics will top the bill as one of the headline acts. They have sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, with huge hits including ‘Maybe Tomorrow’, ‘Dakota’ and ‘Handbags and Gladrags’.

Other confirmed performers include Jess Glynne, who in 2015 became only the second British female solo artist ever to score five UK number-one singles after Cheryl Cole; girl band All Saints; Grammy award nominee KT Tunstall; and famous Spanish singer Rosario Flores. One of the event’s producers, Jonathan Scott, said that the 2016 festival will feature a total of almost 100 acts, and will also introduce dance and comedy stages.
