Spain leaves Olympics with 17 medals

The total equals the country’s performance in London four years ago, but golds achieved in Rio have doubled

SPAIN ended the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro with seven gold medals, four silvers and six bronzes. The total of 17 equals the country’s performance in London four years ago, although the number of golds achieved in Rio has doubled.

Spain ended 14th in the medals list which was topped by the US, with Team GB in second place.
