Mar Menor algae fear

Five different species of algae are growing rapidly in the Mar Menor due to the high content of nitrates and chemicals from farm run-off over many years into the sea.

According to water tests and a scientific report issued on Wednesday some are considered toxic and release toxins damaging sealife.
