Fuengirola fire damage could rise to €1.5 million

Residents still unable to return to their homes and businesses remain closed

THE cost of damages caused by a fire that gutted Fuengirola’s live music bar Pogs and forced 42 families out of their homes has already exceeded €1 million, according to the insurance company contracted by the building’s community group.

The blaze, which took place on March 10, is also still having a huge affect on people’s lives. Residents of the Sol Playa apartment block are unable to return to their homes due to the structural damage caused by the fire, and many have been forced to seek out alternative accommodation, often at high-season rental costs. Businesses underneath the apartment block have also been forced to remain closed.
