GREENPEACE'S annual report on destruction of the Spanish coastline signals the Valencia region as the worst offender during the last decade.

According to the NGO, throughout the whole country the equivalent of eight football fields has been destroyed every day along the coast over the last 20 years.

They allege public administrations have connived to prey on coastal land.

"Politicians are striving to abolish the only law which defends the coast," said Juan López de Uralde, director of Greenpeace.
