Air traffic controllers cause chaosStaff on sick leave cause delays in 72 flights at Alicante airport
As well as the two controllers that called in sick in Alicante, a further 28 failed to turn up for work in Barcelona which added to the chaos as flights between the two cities were delayed for more than 45 minutes. A spokesman for airport operator Aena, said that the aim of the absent air controllers was to disrupt air traffic adding that the high number of controllers that were now on sick leave on a national level was going to be investigated by the government.
