‘Avalanche’ of proceedings against illegal properties revealedBy Richard Torné THE pressure group leading the fight to legalise homes in the province of Almería has warned of an “avalanche” of proceedings against expat-owned properties after it was revealed that up to 98 new homes in Albox could eventually face demolition orders. The AUAN this week released details of the case involving 46 properties in the district of La Aljambra and 52 homes in El Romeral, all of which were built on non-urban land by Procoal Villas. None of the properties have mains water or electricity. Developer Juan Francisco Alarcón Herranz, his architect brother Diego Luis and Antonio Granero Rodriguez face charges related to document forgery, tax evasion and ‘disobedience’ for ignoring an order to cease construction work in April 2004. It appears the developers applied for the corresponding building licences but went ahead with construction work in the interim. Read more in this week's Costa Almería News
